Missouri State University – Meyer Library

Springfield, Missouri

Following a renovation and addition, Cannon Design provided a comprehensive wayfinding program, to compliment the architecture. A major project challenge was the immense information displayed throughout the building. A hierarchy system resolved the situation by disseminating information at key decision points, which also reduces change-outs when services and staff are relocated.

The signage components were designed with both aesthetics and pragmatics in mind. The look of the signs ties into the “open architecture,” allowing the user to see the structure of the components. Standardized sizes and fastening systems allow for simplified and cost-effective replacement as the library expands.

(Completed at Cannon Design as Vice President, Director of Graphic Services – directing team of environmental graphic designers.)
